This chapter gives you very helpful writing tips to keep in mind when your not even writing but while reading. One thing you can do while reading is take little notes as read. As you read ask questions why is the author being so descriptive, or just jot down your reaction you get when you read a certain passage. Another good tip i got from this was to reread things to get a better understanding of what the author is really trying to say.
Besides tips for writing while you read there is also good tips on how to better prepare your thoughts and ideas and structure your paper. A way to help prep your writing and thoughts is to first find out the authors ideas and thoughts. Once you find the thesis and analyze the supporting facts and compare them with the notes you have. this can help you find a thesis for you own paper do you agree with the author or ask a question about why the author did something a certain way and if you agree or disagree.
I got a lot out of reading this that I think I could use in my writing. Something I've never done while reading is take notes about what I'm thinking. This would help me because the majority of the times I read something I don't write about it until later. Along with the note taking tips Ive never set up an outline for something Ive read only for things I'm going to write. If I try to apply this next time I have to read something and write on something my writing will most likely improve if I didn't.

"FreeWrite Exercise"
A freewrite is simple that a piece of writing freely off the top off your head. It is supposed ideas off the top off your head with no filter. You shouldn't worry about grammar or spelling when doing a freewrite. The idea is you write down you true feelings without worry about any outside distractions all it like a fisrt draft of thoughts you pull some of you true feelings out for writing from frewrites.
Freewrites improve you're writing in many ways. By writing down the first thoughts that come to mind you not thinking of what someone who reads it is going to think or what grade your going to get. After you are done with a freewrite you go back reread it later thatt day or another day and the ideas you like from that freewrite you can advance on either in another freewrite or in your paper.
I was somewhat skeptical about freewrites thinking they were a waste of time. But after last semester freewrite notebook i realized it really helped me. I never understood why but writing just started getting easier. After reading up on freewrites it clicked I didn't even realize but i was using my freewrites as a very ruff draft but most of all was coming up with strong thesis by seeing strong points coming up again and again. Now I see that I got these good strong ideas because i could see how much they came up and were constantly on my mind. This made my writing better reflect my opinion.

A Little bit about me
My name is Michael Corbin I'm 18 years old and live in Novato. This is my 3rd semester at the JC and right now my major is undecided. Currently I work at at a tire shop were I install new tires for cars. I'm still just getting the feel for what I wanna do as far a career. I'm interested in a few thing and am looking into Careers in Automotive repair, remodeling, and something in the nutrition field.
As far as learning goes I try to spread work out over time but everyone knows that doesn't always work out the way you want.. In this class I hope to improve my critical response and writing skills. This is my first online class at the JC and I hope it goes smoothly. I took English 302 with Lauren last semester and hope it goes as well as last semester.
